Our Mission

The BAB Association serves students who are currently enrolled in the BAB program at George Brown College, and is committed to providing industry-related and social activities to enrich their post-secondary experience.  The BAB Association will make every attempt to broaden the scope of the students involved in the BAB Association through industry speakers, industry events, and social activities.


     Constitution of the George Brown BAB Association

  - is currently being edited due to our new name, titles of our executives, voluntary members and duties of all involved.  Our new Constitution will be posted here within the next month..

  1. Purpose:

    1. The BAB Association (formerly the BAB Club), serves students who are currently enrolled in the BAB program at George Brown College, and is committed to providing industry-related and social activities to enrich their post-secondary experience.  The BAB Association will make every attempt to broaden the scope of the students involved in the BAB Association through industry speakers, industry events, and social activities.

     

  2. Executive Structure:

    1. The BAB Association will be overseen by an executive structure of 4 officers: two Co-CEOs, a Vice-President of Communication, and Vice-President of Public Affairs.

    2. The Co-CEOs shall be responsible for:

      • Calling monthly meetings and acting as the Chair

      • Acting as the official contact for the BAB Association

      • Recruitment of new members

      • Overseeing of BAB Association meetings and events

      • Organization of bi-monthly luncheon meetings

      • Marketing and promotion of the BAB Association

      • Overseeing of BAB Association meetings and events

    3. The Vice-President of Communication shall be responsible for:

      • Maintaining the financial records of the BAB Association including the budget, cash accounts, and biannual financial statements

      • Coordination with the Student Association on all banking matters

      • Marketing and Promotion of the BAB Association to first year students

    4. The Vice-President of Public Affairs shall be responsible for:

      • Communication with all BAB Association members to create awareness of all events and meetings.

      • Marketing and Promotion of the BAB Association.

      • Obtaining information for monthly newsletters.

       

  3. Membership:

    1.  Membership is open to all current students of George Brown College

     

  4. Elections:

    1. Elections for the Executive shall be held once a year in September at a meeting of all the members for which notice will go out at least 2 weeks in advance

    2. Any association member may stand for election for any position

    3. There shall be one vote per member which shall be cast by secret ballot

    4. The Term of Office will be for one year, unless the Executive member resigns or is removed from office under the Removal policy

    5.  Should there be a vacancy on the Executive due to resignation or removal, the association shall hold a general election as quickly as possible which fulfills the preceding Election policy

     

  5. Removal of Executive or Members:

    1. Any member, including executives, may be removed if they are found by the majority of a meeting of the membership to be contravening any policies of George Brown College or the Student Association of George Brown College.

    2. Executives will be automatically removed if they fail to attend 3 consecutive meetings of the Executive or membership and fail to give appropriate reason for their absence as deemed by the Executive.
